Our History
J Passey & Son LLP
A family business, founded in 1913 by James Albert Passey (Jim).
Jim grew the business before he handed it over to Gordon his youngest son. Gordon kept the business going, but also had a love for cars and grew his scrap yard, until his death in 2005.
The business was then handed to Gordon’s nephew Edward (Jim’s Grandson) who spent much of his childhood with his grandfather and his uncle.
J. Passey & Son had been at the same premises in Newbury since 1913 until 2023, of course many things changed over this time, one being the growth of the business, we re-located to Great Shefford in early 2023.
Edward now runs J. Passey & Son with a dedicated team of professionals, all who have been around animals for most of their lives they bring many years of experience, together with compassion and understanding, and a modern fleet of trailers and horse ambulances.
We offer many services to the farming and equine community, butchers and vets and are always happy to chat if you are after advice.
Supporting horse events is a vital role, we have supported Newbury racecourse since 1925, along with other events such as Point to Points, polo matches, 3 day eventing and horse shows.
